PELHAM, Ga. – Emergency crews responded to a fire at the Assembly of Saints Church in Pelham, Georgia Wednesday.

Fire officials say a call came in around 10:30 a.m. reporting a church on fire at 3652 Spence Road. The Pelham Fire Department, Cotton Fire Department and Grady County Fire Department responded to the scene.

The church was completely destroyed in the blaze, but there were no reported injuries.

“It makes me feel sad, and all of the stuff is gone,” said one member of the congregation.

The owners of Assembly of Saints bought the church four years ago. The building used to be the St. Lewis Baptist Church.

The small congregation is upset, but not losing hope.

“I was sad when I first walked up. To see we just got started and we had a rough start and we just got started. I was kind of sad, but I remember what my dad said, we are the church, it’s just a building,” said a churchgoer.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.
