THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office says that a threat made to a student at Thomas County Central High School isn’t credible.
Officials say the Thomas County School system became aware of what’s being called a “very vague threat” early Monday morning at one of the district’s schools.
The threatened student is reportedly safe, according to the school district, and the threat was deemed not credible by law enforcement officials.
Deputies described the incident as cyberbullying and are trying to track down the person who sent the message.
Thomas County Schools says that despite social media rumors, no weapons have been found on any school campuses and there have not been any acts of violence.
District officials say schools plan to continue on a normal schedule and out of an abundance of caution, and in cooperation with the Sheriff’s office, there is increased security at the schools Monday.
