ALBANY – Assistance given to Georgia storm survivors is nearing $8 million as the FEMA aid deadline approaches, officials say.
According to FEMA, $2.9 million was approved for individuals and households. That includes $1.97 million for home repairs and temporary housing and more than $950,000 for disaster-related expenses.
$5 million in disaster loans were approved for homeowners, renters, and businesses by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Residents of Berrien, Cook, Crisp, Dougherty, Thomas, Turner, Wilcox, and Worth Counties have until March 27 to register with FEMA for disaster assistance.
Individuals in need of assistance can register by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362, online at DissasterAssistance.Gov, by using the FEMA app, or visiting a Disaster Recovery Center.
