Thomasville officials have announced the arrest of wanted shooting suspect Deaundre McClarin. He was taken into custody in Ohio. McClarin will be brought back to Thomasville to face charges.


Dr. Richard Carvajal will be the next president at Valdosta State University. He was named to the post by the University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents. He currently serves as the interim president of Darton State College. he takes his new post on January 1st.


The management Institute at Valdosta State University has been recognized by the Institute of Management Accountants as the Outstanding Student Chapter and received the Award of Excellence for 2015-2016. This is VSU’s second year in a row to achieve the award. Among the chapter’s goals is an effort to help students in the school of business transition into professional life.


Leland, North Carolina investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the shooting of a police officer. The suspected shooter was killed. The officer suffered multiple wounds to his leg. Local officials are investigating with the assistance of state law enforcement.


Members of the Lowndes County Board of Education will hold a meeting at 6:30 pm and their agenda includes the discussion and vote on major purchases and a review of the systems finance report. The meeting will be held at the County Board of Education and it is open to the public.
