A 16 year old female Thomasville High School student has been turned over to Juvenile Justice authorities. She is charged with making a bomb threat, and so far this year there have been four such threats made but no explosives were found.
Recruiting and retention problems have begun to hit hard at Darton State College and at Albany State University while the number of new students at Georgia Southwestern State University is up by as much as 7.2 percent over last year. At Albany State the enrollment dropped 13 percent and Darton experienced a 25 percent drop in enrollment; the two largest declines in the state.
The city of Thomasville has bigh plans for the celebration of Veterans Day. This year the parade returns with lots of particvipants. It begins at 6 p.m. Friday on North Broad Street. A breakfast will be held at the American Legion Post 31 starting at 7:30 a.m. and a special veterans Day ceremony begins just after 11 a.m. at the courthouse.
The Food Bank in Lowndes County is still calling for volunteers. Officials say that between 75 and 100 people are needed to assist in the distribution of food boxes as they expect over 2,000 families to come to pick them up.
