COLQUITT Co. – A Lake Park man and a woman from Worth County were killed Friday afternoon in a head-on collision in Colquitt County in which drugs may have been a factor.

The Georgia State Patrol responded to the wreck on Highway 33 at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Steven Lee Chambers, 31, of Lake Park was driving a white Chevrolet 3500 service truck, and Shirley Powell, 55, of Sylvester was driving a black GMC Yukon when they collided.

Both Chambers and Powell were killed at the scene, according to GSP reports.

Witnesses reportedly told investigators the Yukon traveled into the work truck’s lane, hitting the vehicle head-on.

Troopers suspect the prescription pills may have been a factor in the incident, reports the Moultrie Observer.
