Christopher Wright

DAWSON – Dawson Mayor Christopher Wright turned himself in to Terrell County authorities Wednesday after being indicted on child sex charges.

Wright faces five charges: aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, child molestation, rape, and aggravated rape.

The charges stem from information revealed during the trial of Milton Johnson in February. Johnson was convicted for molesting and raping two young children, a boy and a girl, during the ages of 11 and 12 years old, according to reports.

During the trial, the female victim testified that Wright was brought to the house and had sex with her.

Johnson was later sentenced to eight life sentences.

Wright is currently out on $50,000 bond and is still Mayor of Dawson. However, the governor could appoint an ethics panel to recommend whether Wright should be suspended.
