VALDOSTA – A woman wanted in connection with a string of storage building burglaries was arrested Monday, and now she and another person face additional drug-related charges.

Police in Albany issued warrants for Ashley Renee Chafin, 26, and Elvis Young, 31, after they believed surveillance video identified the pair burglarizing storage units in March, according to reports.

On Monday afternoon, deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Divisions located Chafin at a residence on Oak Drive South.

Young was not at the residence and is still being sought by investigators.

During a search of the home, deputies reportedly found methamphetamine, prescription medications (Oxycodone, Methadone and Subocone) and items believed to have been stolen.

Chafin was placed under arrest. A man who was also at the home, Daniel Wade Smith, 27, was also placed under arrest.

Chafin now faces a charge of possession of methamphetamine in addition to the burglary charges from Albany. Smith has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of schedule II drugs and possession of schedule III drugs, reports stated.

“We will keep working with the other neighboring law enforcement agencies and hopefully return someone’s property that was previously stolen,” said Sheriff Chris Prine.

Prine also stressed that investigators are continuing to examine evidence that may tie these the group to local burglaries and thefts.
