THOMASVILLE – A fuel tanker flipped on its side Monday afternoon in Thomasville, spilling thousands of gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel.
The tanker was headed southbound on US-19 when it attempted to make a left-hand turn onto the Smith Avenue/US-84 exit ramp and overturned around 1:30 p.m.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to authorities, 4,000 gallons of gas and 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled.
Traffic to the area was blocked well into the night while clean-up crews worked to clear the spill.
