Ga. DOT propose truck-only lanes to ease interstate traffic

ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Transportation has proposed a multi-billion dollar plan to ease the brutal commute on I-75 northbound.

From Macon to McDonough — both south of Atlanta — truck drivers would have their own lanes on the interstate.

The estimated $2 billion idea is one of the firsts in the country and would be paid with state and federal funding. Under the plan, two additional lanes would be added to the current three-lane roadway.

The proposal is part of a 10-year plan and is still in the beginning stages.
