CLINCH Co. – Residents in Clinch County are continuing to clean up after Friday’s storms caused some major damage.
The National Weather Service in Jacksonville conducted a storm survey on Saturday and determined that an EF-1 tornado with maximum winds near 100 mph touched down in far northern Clinch County near the Atkinson County line.
The tornado touched down just east of Highway 221 and was on the ground for 7 miles with a maximum width of one-half mile.
There was significant damage to one home, uprooted trees, but mostly snapped trees. Residents at Guest Millpond, the area that was hit the hardest, are still picking up the pieces.
