TIFTON – Tifton police are investigating a gunfire incident after shots were fired near an elementary school Tuesday afternoon.

Officials believe the shots came from Brookfield Mews Apartments near Charles Spencer Elementary School.

Students were being picked up by parents at the end of the school day, and administrators ushered them back inside when the shots were heard.

Nobody was hit or injured, and the investigators said students were not targets, reports WALB.
