WHITE, Ga. – According to reports from the Associated Press, a Georgia police chief and an officer have been arrested for allegedly arresting people on fake charges and then reducing the charges to collect fines.
White, Georgia’s police chief, David King, 58, and Officer Blake Scheff, 26, were charged Wednesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation with false imprisonment, theft by extortion and violation of oath by a public officer, AP reports.
GBI officials said the incidents occurred between December 2011 and April 2015. Both King and Scheff are being held at a county jail.
