Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board say that the small plane that crashed just over a week ago in Albany taking the lives of Britt Knight, Brittany Kerfoot and Kevin Coalson had crashed before. Now, the investigation into what caused the latest crash involves repairs and damage from the previous incident.

Thomasville authorities continue to search for Anthony Akery and Jonathan Bussey. The two men are wanted in connection with a violent beating and armed robbery wherein cash, jewelry and other items were taken. Their victims Joshua Blake and Carlos Austin had given Akery and Bussey a ride. Police warn that the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.

It’s now official Alan Rodemaker is the new head football coach at Valdosta High School. Members of the City School Board gaver unanimous approval to Rodemaker’s appointment; he has served as the Wildcats’ defensive coordinator for six years.

Congratulations go out today to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Instructor Franzelle Pertilla an instructor in the Stafford School of Business. Pertilla is a Sam Walton and was included in a group of 15 high-profile  educators in the field of international business chosen to participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations conference from Jan. 5-15 in Singapore and the Philippines.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal says the state’s net tax collections in January increased more than 6.4 percent compared to this time last year. January collections totaled nearly $2.05 billion. The total includes about $67.4 million due to changes to the state’s gas tax and other fees that lawmakers approved in 2015 to pay for road and bridge maintenance and construction. Total tax revenue for the financial year is about $12.49 billion, an 8.9 percent increase compared to the same time frame in 2015.
