MACON – A Mercer University basketball player was fatally shot Tuesday in the parking lot of a downtown Macon convenience store, and another man who was possibly with the gunman, was critically wounded.

Jibri Bryan, 23, was a graduate student from Savannah. He was reportedly shot in the head at approximately 4 p.m. Bryan was was found the in the driver’s sear of a car backed into a space beside the convenience store on Forsyth Street, according to reports from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators recovered another car they believe belonged to the gunman at 9 p.m.

BSCO authorities say some of the shooting incident was captured by the store’s security cameras. Footage reportedly shows the shooter walk to Bryan’s car and opening fire. A man who was with the shooter was in the line of fire and was possibly shot as well, reports The Telegraph.

The shooter reportedly took the wounded man to a hospital and drove off.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
