TALLAHASSEE — A panic resulted from a shooting at a Tallahassee mall Saturday.

Tallahassee Police report that around 7 pm Saturday a deputy, working an off duty, notified authorities of a disturbance at the Governor’s Square Mall.  Several calls were made to the Consolidated Dispatch Agency related to a black male with a handgun chasing an unknown person into Dillard’s. The callers advised they heard eight to ten shots fired.

Tallahassee Police Department officers responded to Dillard’s and encountered shoppers exiting the store en mass.

In the preliminary sweep authorities did not locate any victims or discover any evidence of shots being fired. After clearing Dillard’s and the rest of the mall, they were advised by the off duty deputy of a fight just prior to the report of the disturbance and an individual picking up a trash receptacle and throwing it to the ground. The deputies did not arrest the individual.

At this point Tallahassee Police are still reviewing surveillance footage to confirm if any shots were fired and how the incident evolved.
