ALBANY — Investigators in the city of Albany are probing the possibility of gang-related violence in connection to a double murder. Shots rang out at a party and Anthony Cook, 24, and James Sanders, Junior, 24, were killed. Police suspect that three different gangs may have been involved.

Police identified the gangs as the Bloods, the Rattlers, and the Ganster Disciples. Charges are pending further investigation.

CORDELE — Cordele law enforcement officials have arrested John Hubert Black, Jr. According police reports, he and an unknown accomplice broke into a home, tied up their victim, and then beat him.

The home invaders took money, jewelry and weapons from the residence. The search for the second suspect is still underway.

ATLANTA — Atlanta’s fire chief has been suspended after city officials say he violated department policy by self-publishing a book that describes homosexuality as a “perversion.” Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said in a statement Monday that Kelvin Cochran, the Chief, will be suspended for a month without pay and will be required to complete sensitivity training.
