guy with gun ATLANTA, GA – A federal lawsuit is asking a judge to declare Georgia’s “stand your ground” law unconstitutional. The complaint has been filed by the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, which was founded by Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr.  The lawsuit claims the law is applied unevenly, and allows people to use deadly force as a preventive manner rather than a last resort.

The Georgia law states a person is justified in threatening or using force if he/she believes it is necessary to protect themselves or another person. The lawsuit is naming Gov. Nathan Deal and Attorney General Sam Olen as defendants.
