Moultrie Residents To Vote On Sunday Alcohol Sales

moultrie signOn Tuesday night, the Moultrie City Council passed a referendum that will allow citizens to vote on whether or not to allow Sunday sales of alcohol.

If the ballot initiative does pass in November, businesses would be able to make sales from 12:30pm-11:30pm, while restaurants could sell from 12:30pm to midnight. Although the Sunday vote is still months away, the council did give the thumbs-up for businesses to sell alcohol on Thanksgiving Day.

City officials say the move to loosen alcohol restrictions may give the city an economic boost- the Sunday sales referendum will be on the ballot in the upcoming November election.
