While Republicans and Democrats spar over food stamp and SNAP cuts in the bill, Black says one of the things lost in the shuffle is the fact that if nothing is done by September 30th, we would ‘go back to 1949 law…which this country can’t afford.’

Black’s comments come on the heels of House Republicans axing any food stamp/SNAP provisions from the bill Thursday. According to the commissioner, if the farm bill does not pass in one way or another, agricultural science funding to schools like ABAC could be at risk.

The POTUS and Senate Democrats have already said they will veto any House bill that does not include ‘nutrition funding.’
