FHPTroopervehicle editLake City, FL- Three burglars wanted in Knoxville, Tennessee nearly escaped into central Florida scot free…except for making the mistake of cutting off an FHP trooper on I-75 near Lake City.

29-year old Heath Sanchez was driving a 2013 Chrysler southbound on I-75 when troopers attempted to pull the vehicle over just south of SR-47. Sanchez then swerved, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed onto the right shoulder. He attempted to flee, but was caught within steps of the crashed car.

An investigation revealed the Chrysler was reported stolen from Knoxville earlier this week, and the three were wanted in connection with a number of commercial burglaries in the Knoxville area.

Sanchez, 20-year old Lynette Lee, and 24-year old Mathew Ladd are being charged with grand theft, possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams) and possession of stolen property. Sanchez is also being charged with mulitple traffic infractions, DWLSR, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and DUI. All three are being held at the Columbia County Jail with no bond.
