Groups Mixed On Proposed DUI Changes

drunk driving 1Not surprisingly, there is a mixed reaction from lobbying groups in Georgia to an NTSB proposal to drop the blood-alcohol limit for DUI. The federal agency came out earlier this month, proposing the change to.05, down from the standard .08.

While Georgia’s chapter of MADD doesn’t oppose the idea, their executive director told the AP that the change is not politically feasible. Barry Martin said the focus should be preventing drinking and driving in the first place.

The Georgia Restaurant Association, meanwhile, says all law enforcement has to do is enforce the current laws on the books.
