FTC: Florida #1, Georgia #2 In Identity Theft, Fraud

computer crime 2A report released Tuesday from the Federal Trade Commission lists Florida as the state most prone to identity theft and fraud.  Florida had 693.5 complaints of fraud per 100,000 people in 2012 and 631.3 identity theft complaints per 100,000 — 86 percent more than second place Georgia.

Here in the Peach State, authorities reported 590.2 complaints of fraud per 100,000 people in 2012 and 193.9 identity theft complaints per 100,000. Georgia totaled 77,775 complaints last year — 58.543 fraud complaints and 19,232 identity theft complaints.
