Florida Gov. Rick Scott has signed into law HB 619, a measure that adds 27 new designer drugs to the state’s controlled substances list.
Signed on Wednesday, the new law makes it a third-degree felony to make or sell the drugs or possess them with the intent to sell.
These synthetic drugs, with street names like “bath salts,’ incense,” “potpourri,” “K2” and “spice,” can cause hallucinations, seizures, paranoia and psychotic episodes.
