If you’re like most people these days, a good amount of your shopping is done online. Whether it be Amazon, eBay, or any other online retailer…there’s one thing that’s always missing at ‘checkout’- sales tax.
However, a Florida Senate committee on Thursday pushed through a bill that would mandate online retailers to collect sales taxes on any items shipped to the Sunshine State.
State lawmakers estimate the tax could raise $400M in revenue each year. The non-partisan Florida TaxWatch says the legislature will only pass the bill if the money eventually ends up back in taxpayers’ hands.
