LOWNDES CO. — Pet owners will have an opportunity to help protect their furry family members during an upcoming low-cost microchip clinic hosted by Lowndes High School’s Friends Fur Life club in partnership with the Humane Society of Valdosta/Lowndes County.

The clinic is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lowndes High School, located at 1606 Norman Drive.

The event offers an affordable way for pet owners to ensure their dogs and cats can be identified if they ever become lost. The first pet per family will be microchipped free of charge, while additional pets can be microchipped for just $5 each.

Microchipping is a quick and simple procedure that provides a permanent form of identification, greatly increasing the chances of lost pets being safely returned to their owners.

Organizers remind attendees that all pets must be on a leash or in a carrier for safety during the event.

Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and help spread the word to other pet owners.
