Valdosta woman arrested for Buddy’s Home Furnishings burglary

VALDOSTA – A 24-year-old woman from Valdosta was arrested by VPD for the burglary of Buddy’s Home Furnishings.

Arrested: Janytra McKinnon, African American female, 24 years of age, Valdosta resident

On October 8, 2024, at approximately 10:00 pm., Valdosta Police Officers responded to Buddy’s Home Furnishings in the 2000 block of Marion Street, for a burglary alarm activation.  When officers arrived at the store, they found the window to the business shattered out.  The officers also located drops of blood near the broken window.

Officers located Janytra McKinnon, 24 years of age, standing in the area.  While speaking with her, officers noticed that her leg had several small cuts on it, which were bleeding.  In a bag that McKinnon was carrying, officers found property belonging to Buddy’s Home Furnishings. 

McKinnon was treated at the hospital for cuts to her leg.  After she was released from the hospital, she was arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail.  McKinnon has been charged with burglary 2nd degree (felony), providing false name and date of birth (misdemeanor), and possession of drug-related objects (misdemeanor).  McKinnon also had an active arrest warrant unrelated to this case.
