Release:

Arrested: Lamarcus Dewayne Thomas, African American male, 20 years of age, Valdosta resident

On April 17, 2024, at approximately 1230 am., Valdosta Police Officers responded to a burglary alarm activation at the Valdosta High School softball field. When the first officer arrived at the softball field, he began to check the concession stand. He observed a male standing in front of an open window. While the officer was speaking with the male, later identified as Lamarcus Dewayne Thomas, 20 years of age, he provided a false name.

The officer located items on Thomas that had been taken from inside the concession stand.

Thomas was arrested without incident and was transported to Lowndes County Jail. He has been charged with burglary (felony) and providing a false name to law enforcement officers (misdemeanor).

“This was outstanding work by our patrol officer who arrived at the alarm so quickly. Because of his timely response, he caught the burglar in the act.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan
