VALDOSTA – The Valdosta Police Department releases an update on a traffic accident investigation involving a pedestrian.

Release:

On March 7, 2024, at approximately 10:50 am., Valdosta Police Officers responded to the intersection of North Ashley Street and East Gordon Street for a traffic accident involving a pedestrian. The Valdosta Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to provide first aid to the pedestrian, who was transported to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

The Valdosta Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing their investigation of the accident.

As of March 11, 2024, the 56-year-old male is still listed in critical condition.

There is a video of the incident circulating on social media, and now in media outlets. Due to the sensitivity and graphic nature of the video, the Valdosta Police Department does not endorse the release of this video.

“We extend our thoughts and prayers to the citizen and our employee involved in the accident. We fully support the ongoing investigation of the incident and are committed to cooperating fully with authorities. The safety and well-being of all residents and employees remain our top priority,” stated City Manager Richard Hardy.
