On February 27, 2024, at approximately 9:15 pm., Valdosta Police Officers responded to the area of the 2300 block of Deborah Drive, after numerous citizens called E911 to report that a male was shooting a gun in the air. The witnesses provided a detailed description of the offender. As law enforcement arrived, the male was observed running from the area. Officers and Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s

Officers identified the male as a 16-year-old juvenile. During the search of the area, the firearm the juvenile had been shooting was recovered.

Officers contacted the Department of Juvenile Justice, who authorized the juvenile be detained for reckless conduct and possession of a firearm by a minor.

The juvenile was transported to a Regional Youth Detention Center.

This investigation is on-going, and further charges are pending.

“This was great teamwork by our department and the sheriff’s office to quickly and safely apprehend this
