VALDOSTA, Ga. – On Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, the wind began blowing fiercely early and grew stronger in the early afternoon. As a result, Valdosta State University closed at 4 p.m. because of power outages at the school’s main campus, according to a statement.

Officials at VSU anticipate returning to normal at 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7.

VSU classes that begin or take place after 4 p.m. are cancelled and will resume tomorrow, weather permitting.

All activities, including basketball, planetarium show, are cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Offices are closed, including Odum Library, Student Recreation Center, Student Union, Student Health Center, and the VSU Bookstore.

Dormitories will remain open and fully-staffed and students will be notified about dining options.

Be careful driving in the VSU area because traffic lights are out and traffic is being directed by VSU police.
