VALDOSTA, Ga. – On January 13, 2020, at approximately 6:15 a.m., patrol officers with Valdosta Police Department responded to a burglary alarm at a business in the 500 block North Oak Street. The initial officer noticed damage to the building, and he observed a subject, later identified as Gerrick Rolle, hiding inside the business.

When other officers to include a department K9 unit arrived on scene, Rolle refused to follow verbal commands to exit the business. Officers, along with the K9, entered the business where they were able to detain Rolle without incident. Rolle was transported to Lowndes County Jail on the following charges:

  • Burglary-felony;
  • Criminal damage to property-felony; and
  • Obstruction of an officer-misdemeanor.

“We are extremely proud of our officers getting on the scene and catching this offender while in the act,” stated VPD Lt. Scottie Johns. “This alarm system proved to be an invaluable tool for this business.”
