VFD Save’s Kitty’s Life in House Fire

VALDOSTA, Ga. – If a cat has nine lives, then one Valdosta kitty has one less after this weekend.

On Saturday, December 28, 2019 at approximately 11:21 a.m., the Valdosta Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at 803 E. Moore St.  The first fire unit arrived within two minutes to find smoke coming from the roof line of the residence.

Fire crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control.

One unconscious feline was located by VFD and removed from the structure.

VFD and SGMC personnel successfully revived the cat and returned it to its owner. VPD and SGMC EMS assisted on scene.

The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical.

One occupant was displaced and will be staying with family. No injuries were reported.

There was a total of 18 VFD Personnel on scene.
