VALDOSTA— Soon to be delivered for presidential signature is a bill that will give Moody Air Force Base $12.5 million. This money is intended for base construction projects. It may also be used by Moody to purchase properties.
Using amounts appropriated pursuant to the authorization of appropriations in section 2304(a) and available for military construction projects inside the United States as specified in the funding table in section 4601, the Secretary of the Air Force may acquire real property and carry out military construction projects for the installations or locations inside the United States, and in the amounts, set forth in the following tableH.R. 2500, Congress Bill
It seems possible that this bill could go through as is. Acccording to a report by Valdosta Daily Times, “The National Defense Authorization Act for 2020 passed the Senate 86-8 last week after it cleared the House of Representatives with a 377-48 vote”.
Though squabbled in comparison to the $316 million the H.R. 2500 would set aside for Tinian on the Mariana Islands, those $12 million will enter Valdosta’s local economy. Could this cause an economic growth spurt in Valdosta’s local business? We’ll have to wait and see.
