VALDOSTA, Ga. – On December 2, 2019, at approximately 10:13 p.m., Valdosta Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of North Troup Street. A citizen had called 911 and advised them that there was a suspicious vehicle parked beside a vacant residence. Officers made contact with Blake Duffey, who was sitting inside a white Ford Expedition. While talking with Duffey, he provided officers with a false name.

During their investigation, officers determined that the Expedition had been reported stolen on November 21, 2019. As officers began to arrest Duffey, he physically resisted arrest. Once he was taken into custody, officers found cocaine, a drug pipe, and several knives on him. Duffey was transported to Lowndes County Jail for the following charges:

• Possession of cocaine-felony;
• Possession of drug-related objects-felony;
• Theft by receiving stolen property-felony;
• Giving a false name to officers-misdemeanor; and
• Obstruction of an officer-misdemeanor.

“We are thankful that this observant citizen called 911,” commented VPD Chief Leslie Manahan. “This citizen helped us recover a stolen vehicle and get narcotics off the street. We are also extremely thankful that our officers did not get injured while this offender was resisting arrest.”
