Salvation Army Needs Help for Christmas

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta Salvation Army is getting ready for the Christmas season.

Always a busy time for them, Lt. Chris Thomas stopped by Valdosta Today to let the public know that they’ll be looking for bell-ringers.

“Also, at our bike run,” Lt. Thomas added, “That’s one we do every year and we will need help sorting and distributing.”

Lt. Thomas said they will also need “character building volunteers,” for 6-17 year-old kids in the community who have at-risk situations, helping them understand basic home economics. This mentoring opportunity is an opportunity for people to play a vital role in their communities by working with young people and potentially changing, or even saving, their lives.

“Many of them are from broken homes, from generational poverty,” Lt. Thomas said. “Not necessarily bad kids, but find themselves in bad situations.”

Volunteers are needed at the Salvation Army 12-bed facility as well.

There are both volunteer and paid positions available.
