UPDATE: The woman killed Friday Morning when her car rear-ended a Lowndes County school bus has been identified as Christina Gurkha, 59, of Lakeland.
Gurka had a child in the backseat of her car that suffered no injuries.
The Bus was headed to Moulton-Branch Elementary School with 15 students, all of whom were checked out at the hospital. None were injured, LCS’ Laverne Rome said.
LOWNDES CO., Ga. – Around 6:30 a.m. Friday morning there was an accident involving a school bus and a vehicle on Highway 84.
The car reportedly ran into the rear of the school bus.

Lowndes County Schools released the following statement:
A Lowndes County school bus was involved in an accident this morning, near Naylor. A car rear-ended the bus that was transporting approximately 15 students. The students appeared to be okay but are being checked by medical personnel. The parents of those students have been contacted. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
