VALDOSTA, Ga. – On Thursday, October 3, 2019, the Valdosta Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at 214 N. Troup St. shortly after receiving a call at 3:07 A.M.

The first fire unit arrived within four minutes to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence, swallowing both floors of the two story home.

Fire crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control. One person succumbed to the fire.

VPD and SGMC EMS assisted on scene. There was a total of 18 VFD personnel.  

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
