HAHIRA, Ga – Following an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen, the Hahira Police Department sent officers to 104 N. Church Street to investigate Monday, September 16 around 8:30 p.m.

“We had a complaint of drug activity,” commented HPD’s Todd Pitchford. “Two other officers and I did a knock-and-talk and we ended up recovering just over four ounces of marijuana packaged to sell and a handgun hidden in the tank of the toilet.”

As soon as the resident opened the door, Pitchford said the smell of marijuana was pungent.

“We talked our way in,” said Pitchford, adding, “We basically said, ‘Where’s the marijuana?’ and they ended up telling us.”

Pitchford said they also recovered scales and baggies and around $690 in cash.

“You could see where they were cleaning the marijuana, getting the stems out making it ready to sell,” continued Pitchford. “They had already gotten it cleaned up and packaged by the time we arrived.”

Arrested was Daniel Raymond Watson, 22, who will be arraigned Tuesday following Pitchford’s presentation to the judge.

“The only reason people were smelling it was because there was an AC unit near where they were packaging it,” Pitchford said.
