VALDOSTA – A man has been arrested after police say he broke into a Valdosta car wash and then called 911 to report that he injured his arm during the burglary.

The Valdosta Police Department says a man called Lowndes County Emergency 911 just before 4:30 a.m. on Sunday to report receiving a laceration to his arm.

When first responders arrived at the scene, the man told officers that he had cut his arm on a piece of glass while he was breaking into a local business.

Officers responded to the business in question, Heavenly Car Care at 1000 N Ashley Street, and found a shattered window and a blood trail inside and outside of the business.

The man told police that three people had made him take illegal narcotics, handed him a brick, and told him to break into the car wash and steal property.

Surveillance video taken from the business showed a suspect breaking the window, cutting himself, and then entering the business and stealing items.

Officials say the surveillance video helped them identify the suspect as the injured man, 43-year-old Larry Thomas.

Police say at this time, there is no evidence to suggest that Thomas was forced to take drugs or commit the burglary.

Thomas was taken to a local hospital for treatment before being booked into the Lowndes County Jail.

He’s charged with felony burglary.
