VALDOSTA – An 81-year-old man is dead after a crash in Valdosta.
According to Georgia State Patrol, 18-year-old Andrew Sanders was driving south on Inner Perimeter Road when 81-year-old Samuel Culpepper turned out in front of him.
Sanders reportedly put on brakes but could not avoid hitting Culpepper’s vehicle. The front of his pickup truck hit the driver side door of Culpepper’s car. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch on the side of the road.
Troopers say Culpepper is at fault in the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene. He failed to yield at the stop sign on Howell Road.
Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash and both drivers were reportedly wearing seatbelts.
