Esacaped Valdosta inmate apprehended

VALDOSTA – A resident at a Georgia Department of Corrections Transitional Center in Valdosta is back in custody after walking away from the facility Wednesday night.

Trayvon Terry was wearing civilian clothing when he escaped at around 10:30 p.m., prompting a statewide lookout.

Terry was convicted in Henry County in 2011 for aggravated assault, and his maximum release date is set for May 2018.

Officials apprehended Terry at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Thursday without incident.

The function of  transitional centers is to provide a work release program for offenders after serving time within the state’s prison.
