VALDOSTA – Approximately 1,121,495 people in Georgia, or 14.2% of the adult population, have diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association.
Every year an estimated 60,000 people in Georgia are diagnosed with diabetes. Staying healthy means more than just following your doctor’s plan and taking your medication.
SGMC’s Diabetes Management Center seeks to enhance your diabetes care plan with education and tools about the foods you eat every day. Our program includes guided walking tours of the store, led by our team members.
During the tour you’ll learn how to read food labels, calculate carbohydrate servings, make healthier meal choices. As you learn healthier ways to eat, snack, and cook for your diabetes, you’ll also learn how to make healthier choices for your family members.
