VALDOSTA – Valdosta Police are looking for answers after a weekend homicide.

They say 44-year-old Terry Williams was found shot to death in his car Saturday morning on the 600 block of Broad Street.

“It looked like someone was sitting in the car,” says one resident off of Adair Street.

Except Williams and the car never moved from the intersection of Adair and Broad Street.

“There was a whole bunch of yellow tape. A crime scene. That’s what it looked like, a murder,” says another resident off of Adair St.

Neighbors woke up to see police find Williams dead in his car, with a gunshot wound to the head.

They say the blue sedan he was found in was still idling and stopped in front of this intersection.

It’s the first homicide of the year in Valdosta.

Police Chief Brian Childress believes the motive is drug related.

“I think if you look at most homicides across the country, you’re going to see one of two things. They’re either drug related or gang related,” says Chief Childress.

He says detectives are searching city-wide cameras, while crime technicians continue to analyze evidence from the scene.

“There’s no winner when you sell illegal drugs. You’re either going to end up going to jail or killed. That’s an absolute fact,” adds Chief Childress.

Residents on Adair and Broad Streets are now waiting for answers.

“It’s just crazy it happened right here in my corner,” says an Adair Street resident.

Another neighbor says, “the only thing that concerns me is that I don’t know who did it.”

Anyone with any information on the incident is urged to contact VPD.
