14-year-old pedestrian struck, injured in Valdosta

On 11-17-2016 at approximately 4:10pm, uniformed patrol officers and Emergency Medical Services responded to the intersection of Bemiss Road and Langdale Drive in reference to a minor being struck by a motor vehicle in the middle of Bemiss Road.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a juvenile that had been hit by a moving vehicle. Specialized traffic units also responded to the scene to assist. The juvenile was assessed on scene by EMS and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The juvenile’s condition is described as moderate-serious condition. The driver of the motor vehicle did not report any injuries. It was reported that the juvenile was attempting to cross all five lanes of Bemiss Road during rush hour traffic. However, the traffic collision is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.

“The Valdosta Police Department urges all pedestrian’s to cross at intersections only and to not cross the street unless it can be accomplished in a safe manner. Said Lieutenant Bembry”
