VALDOSTA – A Valdosta man has been arrested after detectives tracked down the location of a stolen boat motor.

In September, detectives with the Valdosta Police Department investigated a burglary in the 1600 block of River Street. A boat motor and a trolling motor were stolen from a shed during the incident, said VPD Lt. Adam Bembry.

On October 3, VPD detectives reportedly received information about an individual who possibly had the boat motor.

“The suspect was interviewed, and enough probable cause was developed for an arrest warrant to be obtained through the Lowndes County Magistrate Court,” said Bembry.

Dennis Hart, 26,  was later arrested for Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, reports stated.

“The Valdosta Police Department commends the citizens for the information given in the case. Residents that cooperate in active investigations play a huge part in the successful prosecution of the offenders and in keeping our city safe,” said Bembry.
