
VALDOSTA (WCTV Eyewitness News) – A Valdosta dentist has pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud, the U.S. Department of Justice reports.
55-year-old Dr. Stanley Marable, DDS, pleaded guilty to one count of health care fraud Friday.
Dr. Marable was charged after an investigation revealed he had overbilled the Georgia Medicaid program nearly $800,000 for tooth extractions he had not performed.
Dr. Marable faces a maximum sentence of ten years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release.
The DOJ says as part of his plea agreement, Dr. Marable will pay more than $789,000 in restitution to the Georgia Medicaid Program.
Sentencing for Dr. Marable is scheduled for February 8, 2017.
