Storm wreaks havoc on South Georgia neighborhoods

VALDOSTA –  A Tuesday evening storm wreaked havoc throughout south Georgia, causing power outages, uprooting trees and damaging several homes.

Valdosta Today has received reports from residents from several Lowndes County and surrounding neighborhoods who experienced the storm and the resulting damage.

A resident of Northlake said fallen trees blocked entrance to the subdivision, and a tree fell through the roof of at least one house.

Foxborough residents reported downed street lights and large amounts of hail.

A tree fell on a truck and other several houses and trailers were damaged in the Troupeville area, according to another Valdosta Today reader.

Hail, fallen trees, power outages, blocked roads and damaged homes were reported from readers in Lakeland.

Grove Point residents reported several down trees and a trampoline that was blown onto the roof of a house.

Residents near Coleman Road reported a downed power line that caused an almost five hour outage.
