NAYLOR – A registered sex offender has been arrested for pulling a firearm on teenager during a road rage incident last week.

Last week, a 17-year-old victim filed a report with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office detailing the April 9 incident.

The victim was reportedly driving on Good Hope Road at around 6 p.m. when a black PT Cruiser pulled out from a cross street in front of the victim, causing her to abruptly stop in order to avoid a crash,” said LCSO Capt. Stryde Jones.

“The driver of the second vehicle immediately exited and approached the victim, who was still seated in her vehicle. The male began shouting at the victim, pulled a firearm and pointed it at the victim as he continued to make threats,” Jones said. “The victim immediately drove away and called for help.”

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Thursday , LCSO detectives were in the Good Hope Road area when they noticed the PT Cruiser driving in the area. A traffic stop was performed and the driver identified as Joshua Darling, according to LCSO reports

“The detectives also noticed that Darling had two handguns on him which when they checked were actually BB guns,” Jones said.

Joshua Elex Darling, 46, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was taken to the Lowndes County Jail. He appeared in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court on Monday for an arraignment hearing and is currently still in jail.

Darling is also a registered sex offender who resides in Lowndes County.
