VALDOSTA – Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 31 Valdosta responded to a single vehicle crash on GA 38 (US 84) near Lake Alapaha Drive in Lowndes County at approximately 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A GMC van occupied by seven passengers was traveling east on GA 38 when the van experienced tire failure. The driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway. The van struck a utility pole to a major power line.

All occupants were transported with injuries. Two of the injured transported via life flight with critical injuries.

Due to the threat of power lines falling on the roadway and posing a safety concern to the motoring public, the eastbound lanes of GA 38 will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
